What do you think this quote means?
If the past cannot teach the present and the father cannot teach the son, then history need not have bothered to go on, and the world has wasted a great deal of time. ~Russell Hoban

Hi guys.
Tomorrow you are wearing your P.E gear. If you read this message could you please put a school shirt in your bag for the photos where you dress up in early settler clothing. The boys won't look as good with their P.E tshirt under their waistcoat. Can you plass this message on to other classmates.
Also remember your lunch, a jacket and your manners.
See you in the morning.

How have you settled in to life at Balmacewen?
You have now been at Balmacewen for over 7 weeks. Many of you have joined sports teams, dance groups, kapa haka, music classes and many other activities.Well done for signing up and for getting involved.
If you haven't joined anything yet keep looking and listening to the notices to find something you might be interested in trying. Don't miss out!
Tell me what you have been enjoying so far. What do you like? what do you find difficult or challenging? Would love to hear your thoughts. Remember you can read and comment on what other people say also.

Recount Writing
Learning intention - to write a powerful recount based on a personal camp experience.
Things to think about when writing
- Use a variety of sentence starters
- Use paragraphs
- Include powerful verbs, adjectives, similes and personification
- Remember to show don't tell eg I was cold - My body look like it was turning blue and my lips began to chatter.
- To include description of feelings
Use your planning sheets, check list and assessment rubric. These should be glued in your writing book.
Choose 1 event from camp and write about it in clear detail.

Farm Visit
Farm Day is this weekend on Sunday the 13th. There is a free bus leaving from school at 9am for a limited number of students who are really keen and it will return at approximately 2pm.
If you miss out on going on the bus with school you can still attend Farm Day with your family. All welcome. Otago’s Farm Day will be held on Telford Farm, 498 Owaka Highway. Its indoor arena means a great day whatever the weather.
A notice will be going home tomorrow. Let me know if you are really keen.
What types of things do you hope to see or do?
